At the Intersection of Finance, Technology, and Innovation

As Director of Portfolio Analytics at Strategic Advisory Partners, Thibaut Morillon, Ph.D., strengthens the firm’s investment research and portfolio construction process with a data-driven, academically informed approach. He partners closely with the investment team to enhance portfolio design, support disciplined decision-making, and deepen the analytical foundation behind SAP’s strategies.

Thibaut brings a decade of experience at the intersection of finance, quantitative research, and applied technology, with a particular specialization in cryptocurrency and blockchain markets. His work blends traditional finance with emerging digital asset research, giving SAP a broadened perspective on market innovation and the evolving investment landscape.

In addition to his work with SAP, Thibaut serves as an Associate Professor of Finance at Elon University, where he teaches courses in financial innovation and conducts award-winning research on artificial intelligence, blockchain, crypto markets, and portfolio analytics. His academic work is widely recognized within the finance research community and reflects his commitment to bridging theory with real-world application.

Earlier in his career, Thibaut worked in wealth management with LCL Bank in France, giving him firsthand insight into client needs and portfolio implementation.

Thibaut holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Missouri and an MBA in Finance from Southeast Missouri State University. He also earned both his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Versailles in France.

Originally from France, Thibaut now calls North Carolina home. Outside of markets and the classroom, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children and mentoring students as they enter the finance profession.
